Customized STEMM Programs (Leadership programs)

Last several decades, both interest in science and science ability unfortunately drop as children progress through school. Education experts found that there are problems in the system such as schools with no tracking system (standardized assessment), books with too much contents, teacher with teacher’s learning level, student with pre-misconception. To achieve better, the most important factor in the school system is a teaching with professional trained teachers.

According to “Third Waves” written by Alvin Toffler, the future society will be the globalized knowledge-based information society with fast flow of information and communication connected by network system. To lead/survive in the hyper-competition society, student needs innovative learning-teaching systems that improve student’s creativity. The innovative education system emphasizes on learning with understanding, not on memorizing by using meta-cognitive approach method in science class. To optimize proper education system for different education background groups, the education system needs various teaching methods such as student-centered learning, flipped learning, blended learning, inquired-based leaning and project-based learning with hands-on experience (learn by doing).

We provide various customized short-term STEM (Science/Technology/Engineering/Math) programs for international middle and high school student groups during summer with hands-on experience and High Quality Learning and Teaching (HQLT) developed by WWU. The customized weekly programs can be developed with combining high quality STEM classes with cultural experiences, while working together with local middle and high school students. The program will be progressed on-site university dormitory, which will give college life experience of American to participants. The program will contain three main factors such as inquired-based science/project-based engineering topics, understanding of science terminology, and cultural experiences of northwest America.
